The Deep Dark Woods

January 4, 2015

005

Those tracks through the snow remind me of Robert Frost…

“The woods are lonely, dark, and deep…”

And – they are beautiful. I can almost hear the wind in the firs and feel the snow spray on my face. But where do those tracks lead? For me, this image is a wonderful evocation of where we find ourselves at the beginning of a new year. Sunrises just don’t do it for me. But a track…through a snow-filled forest…that’s more like it. It is so small, so insignificant against the majesty of the trees. But it indicates an unseen presence…someone was here. They came from somewhere – and they are going somewhere else.

I like the implied vastness of the forest. There are so many ways to go; choices to be made. There is danger here; but there are also challenges… opportunities.

So, I will put on my metaphorical skies… and plunge ahead. Wish me luck….
