Berte’s back!

July 30, 2016

Berte on bridge of Acorn (518x640)

After thirteen years and fifty-five performances, Berte is back. “Little But OH My! – the story of Berte Olson” will return to the Deception Pass Amphitheater on Friday August 5th at 7:00 PM.

Deception Pass is part of Berte’s story. Born in Norway, raised on Whidbey Island, Berte grew up to become the first woman to skipper a ferry boat on Puget Sound and own her own ferry boat company. Before the bridge,  her little Deception Pass Ferry Company  carried 12 – 16 Model T’s back and forth across the water- 75 cents round trip and 10 cents for walk-ons!

Bringing a show out of mothballs is such fun. It’s a new time, new audience – and as I rehearse, I gain fresh insights into this woman whom I still respect and admire. And to bring her back to life in a location that is part of the story – that is the icing on the cake. Come join us – bring a  Discover Pass (to get into the Park), a cushion – and a blanket if it’s chilly!
